The Senator sparked drama during the burial of former Kathiani Member of Parliament Wavinya Ndeti’s husband after declaring himself the acting President of the Republic of Kenya.
The flamboyant Senator caused disruption at the Mavoko burial hurling unprintable insults at those who tried to cut short his speech and even tried to attack one of the mourners.
The Nairobi Gubernatorial seat aspirant in 2017, left Kenyans disappointed with his actions when the video was aired on National TV and went viral on social media.
His behaviour and statements elicited sharp criticism with many terming his words as a breach of the President’s office while others suggested he ought to be charged with treason.
Nairobi City Lawyer Ahmednassir Abdullahi weighed in on the matter stating: “When Sonko says he is acting president of the Republic of Kenya and that is legally false…he commits treason.”
